Why is the PSAT so important?

🌟 PSAT Tips & Scholarships

The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) isn’t just a “practice test” — it plays a crucial role in college admissions and scholarship opportunities.

  1. Familiarize yourself with the SAT format and question types
The PSAT and SAT have very similar question styles. It’s the best way to experience a test that closely resembles the real SAT. Students who take the PSAT often find the SAT much easier to prepare for.
  2. Opportunity to earn scholarships
High school juniors who perform exceptionally well on the PSAT/NMSQT may qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program, where they can compete for at least $2,500 scholarships, and in some cases, larger corporate or university-sponsored awards — even full scholarships!
  3. Identify strengths and weaknesses
The PSAT score report breaks down performance by section, helping students understand where to focus their study efforts.
  4. Catch the attention of colleges
High scorers often receive outreach emails and letters from universities, opening doors to early admissions opportunities.

2025 PSAT/NMSQT Test Dates

  • Weekday testing: October 1–31 (scheduled by schools)
  • Saturday testing (2025 only): October 11 or October 18

You can only take the PSAT once per year, so make it count! If you want a top score — and a shot at scholarships — don’t miss this opportunity.

Feel free to share with students and parents who might benefit! Hope this helps.
